Massage

massage & pregnancy

Physical contact is a source of comfort and solace at any time, but especially during pregnancy. Massage can be used as a means of relaxing you, and it also brings you and your partner closer together.

It's very useful during the first stages of labour, not only for relieving back pain but also for helping to reassure and soothe you.

Stroking Her Brow

With your partner propped up against your chest, gently close her eyes and use your fingertips in a smooth outward movement, running your fingers out over her hair.

Relieve Back Pain

With your partner lying on her side, feel for the base of the tailbone between the buttocks and press firmly with the heel of your hand. Make small circular movements to relieve back pain. Now move your hands down to her knees and smooth her thighs up to her buttocks.

Foot Massage

With your partner well supported and comfortable, press with your thumbs on the soles and out to the edges of her feet. Firmness prevents you tickling her. Work from the heel up to the toes.
